I put my son down for a nap and came back to the table while my daughter finished her lunch. We chatted a little bit. She told me how she really liked the mixture she just made on her plate: mustard, ketchup and cilantro jalapeno hummus. She finished her juice. Cleared her plate. I asked, "Are you ready for a nap?" Her response, "No, mama." I told her, "Sorry, hon, but you're taking a nap." She stops in her tracks, looks at me with her vibrant big blue eyes and asks, "Then why did you give me a choice?"
Touche', Maddi. Touche'.
I like giving the kids choices. A or B. Red or blue. Pancakes or waffles. Yes or No. She simply thought this was another choice I was posing to her. I need to remember this little incident for next time - no choices when it comes to naptime!

That is really funny, my daughter has said the same thing in similar situations.
Clever little girl!
I didn't realize you had my blog hop button on your site, thank you!

Howdy - kids can sure put you in your place! Love her response. Does she really eat hummus and jalapeno? I wanted to thank you for coming by my blog and leaving such great comments. I'm now following you and can't wait to read more.

I also love to offer choices, but sometimes I have to bite my lips, I even start the sentence and have to finish it differently. We've had similar situations. Sigh. Aren't they clever our little ones?
